"Nursery stock" is the term used in fruit growing for the young seedlings used to establish orchards — in our case, apple, plum, apricot, cherry, sour cherry, peach, nectarine and pear seedlings, grown entirely at G.T. Cebotari Feodor Mihail nursery in Jora de Sus, Orhei district.
How we produce our nursery stock
The seedlings we sell are produced by grafting — a traditional method in which a bud or shoot of the chosen variety is joined to a rootstock with a well-developed root system. This ensures the seedling is true to the variety and typically more vigorous, cropping earlier than a tree grown from seed. To help ensure the nursery stock we produce meets quality standards, we work closely with the Institute for Fruit Growing Research. We also run our own orchard, which lets us track how our varieties perform over the long term — an ongoing, practical test of our own nursery stock's quality.
