Gala is a New Zealand variety bred from Kidd's Orange Red crossed with Golden Delicious, and has since become one of the most popular apple varieties in the world.

Medium-sized fruit, red-striped over a yellowish-orange background, with sweet, crisp and aromatic flesh.

Early variety — among the first apples picked in the season (summer to early autumn).
